Di dalam sesuatu kajian, membuat analisis adalah salah satu perkara yang utama dan kritikal. Melalui analisis kita akan perolehi masalah utama yang perlu diselesaikan dan seterusnya mencari suatu jalan atau cara penyelesaian yang terbaik. Proses ini sama seperti dalam membeli belah, contoh membeli fabrik untuk dibuat baju. Kita perlu membuat analisis terhadap fabrik yang ada. Analisis perlu dibuat berdasarkan beberapa aspek iaitu jenis fabrik, corak fabrik dan kesesuaian dengan si pemakai.

Analisis pada jenis fabrik perlu dibuat melalui beberapa cara yang dirasakan sesuai seperti merasa dengan tangan untuk tahu ia lembut atau tidak, mengangkat fabrik ke arah cahaya untuk melihat ia nipis atau tidak, cuba koyakkan untuk lihat ia tahan lasak atau tidak. Jika mencapai piawai, kita teruskan pada aspek kedua iaitu corak fabrik. Perbandingan perlu dibuat bagi mendapatkan corak yang dirasakan sesuai. Pertama pilih beberapa corak yang sesuai menepati selera, kemudian bandingkan ia. Lagi banyak pilihan lagi bagus. Teruskan membuat perbandingan demi perbandingan sehingga puas hati. Namun harus diingat supaya tidak membuat perbandingan terlalu lama kerana dikhuatiri mengganggu analisis pada aspek terakhir. Setelah corak telah dipilih, perlu dibayangkan adalah sesuai dengan si pemakai. Ini merupakan analisis aspek yang terakhir. Ia bergantung kepada si pemakai, samada si pemakai adalah kita sendiri atau untuk orang lain. Jika si pemakai adalah kita sendiri, analisis ini tidak akan mengambil masa lama. Kita hanya perlu fikir adakah kita memerlukan citarasa berbeza atau citarasa yang sama seperti yang sedia ada. Namun jika si pemakai adalah orang lain, kita perlu bayangkan bagaimana citarasa si pemakai itu. Pada tahap ini, analisis pada aspek kedua mungkin perlu diulang. Setelah selesai proses analisis, maka selesai satu kitaran proses membuat analisis pada fabrik yang hendak dibeli.

Secara umum, proses ini lebih kurang sama jika diaplikasi di dalam bidang kajin. Perkara pokok adalah perancangan dan perlaksanaan. Perancangan yang baik tidak menjamin hasil yang baik jika perlaksanaan tidak mencapai piawaian perancangan. Begitu juga sebaliknya. Kedua-duanya perlu baik dan berkualiti.

What is a review of the literature?

A literature review is an account of what has been published on a topic by accredited scholars and researchers. Occasionally you will be asked to write one as a separate assignment (sometimes in the form of an annotated bibliography—see the bottom of the next page), but more often it is part of the introduction to an essay, research report, or thesis. In writing the literature review, your purpose is to convey to your reader what knowledge and ideas have been established on a topic, and what their strengths and weaknesses are. As a piece of writing, the literature review must be defined by a guiding concept (e.g., your research objective, the problem or issue you are discussing, or your argumentative thesis). It is not just a descriptive list of the material available, or a set of summaries

Besides enlarging your knowledge about the topic, writing a literature review lets you gain and demonstrate skills in two areas

1. information seeking: the ability to scan the literature efficiently, using manual or computerized methods, to identify a set of useful articles and books
2. critical appraisal: the ability to apply principles of analysis to identify unbiased and valid studies.

A literature review must do these things

1. be organized around and related directly to the thesis or research question you are developing
2. synthesize results into a summary of what is and is not known
3. identify areas of controversy in the literature
4. formulate questions that need further research

Ask yourself questions like these:

1. What is the specific thesis, problem, or research question that my literature review helps to define?
2. What type of literature review am I conducting? Am I looking at issues of theory? methodology? policy? quantitative research (e.g. on the effectiveness of a new procedure)? qualitative research (e.g., studies )?
3. What is the scope of my literature review? What types of publications am I using (e.g., journals, books, government documents, popular media)? What discipline am I working in (e.g., nursing psychology, sociology, medicine)?
4. How good was my information seeking? Has my search been wide enough to ensure I've found all the relevant material? Has it been narrow enough to exclude irrelevant material? Is the number of sources I've used appropriate for the length of my paper?
5. Have I critically analysed the literature I use? Do I follow through a set of concepts and questions, comparing items to each other in the ways they deal with them? Instead of just listing and summarizing items, do I assess them, discussing strengths and weaknesses?
6. Have I cited and discussed studies contrary to my perspective?
7. Will the reader find my literature review relevant, appropriate, and useful?

Ask yourself questions like these about each book or article you include:

1. Has the author formulated a problem/issue?
2. Is it clearly defined? Is its significance (scope, severity, relevance) clearly established?
3. Could the problem have been approached more effectively from another perspective?
4. What is the author's research orientation (e.g., interpretive, critical science, combination)?
5. What is the author's theoretical framework (e.g., psychological, developmental, feminist)?
6. What is the relationship between the theoretical and research perspectives?
7. Has the author evaluated the literature relevant to the problem/issue? Does the author include literature taking positions she or he does not agree with?
8. In a research study, how good are the basic components of the study design (e.g., population, intervention, outcome)? How accurate and valid are the measurements? Is the analysis of the data accurate and relevant to the research question? Are the conclusions validly based upon the data and analysis?
9. In material written for a popular readership, does the author use appeals to emotion, one-sided examples, or rhetorically-charged language and tone? Is there an objective basis to the reasoning, or is the author merely "proving" what he or she already believes?
10. How does the author structure the argument? Can you "deconstruct" the flow of the argument to see whether or where it breaks down logically (e.g., in establishing cause-effect relationships)?
11. In what ways does this book or article contribute to our understanding of the problem under study, and in what ways is it useful for practice? What are the strengths and limitations?
12. How does this book or article relate to the specific thesis or question I am developing?

Final Notes:

A literature review is a piece of discursive prose, not a list describing or summarizing one piece of literature after another. It's usually a bad sign to see every paragraph beginning with the name of a researcher. Instead, organize the literature review into sections that present themes or identify trends, including relevant theory. You are not trying to list all the material published, but to synthesize and evaluate it according to the guiding concept of your thesis or research question

If you are writing an annotated bibliography, you may need to summarize each item briefly, but should still follow through themes and concepts and do some critical assessment of material. Use an overall introduction and conclusion to state the scope of your coverage and to formulate the question, problem, or concept your chosen material illuminates. Usually you will have the option of grouping items into sections—this helps you indicate comparisons and relationships. You may be able to write a paragraph or so to introduce the focus of each section

p/s: what is annotated bibliography?

Pada firasat aku, dalam apa jua perkara kita lakukan perlu fokus. Samada belajar, memasak, bersukan, bekerja hatta menonton televisyen. Kalau fokus tiada dalam belajar, sia-sia masa diperuntukkan; contohnya ketiadaan fokus aku ketika membaca paper menyebabkan aku terpaksa ulang membacanya sekali lagi. Kalau fokus tiada dalam memasak, boleh hangit masakan dan hasilnya tidak sedddaaaappp. Kalau fokus tiada dalam bersukan, boleh cedera (terlebih sudah!). Kalau fokus tiada semasa bekerja, menyebabkan selalu memberi alasan tidak cukup masa, sedangkan kita ada 8 jam sehari untuk bekerja (yang wajib). Kalau fokus tiada ketika menonton televisyen, tiada pengajaran diperolehi.

Fokus boleh dibuat mengikut peringkat, 1-Seumur Hidup, 2-Tahunan, 3-Bulanan, 4-Sehari-harian. Sebelum membuat fokus, perlu letakkan matlamat apa untuk difokuskan barulah fokus. Sekarang matlamat aku adalah untuk membuat Literature Review. Jadi fokus aku perlu dibuat mengikut harian dalam usaha mencapai matlamat itu.

Namun sebagai manusia biasa yang kononnya terlalu banyak perkara nak diuruskan, komitmen yang padu tidak mampu diberikan untuk perkara FOKUS. Aku senaraikan perkara-perkara yang mengganggu fokus aku:

1. Urusan rumahtangga (mcm besar je kan...sebenarnya simple je..saja bagi alasan..:P)
2. Facebook (adeiii...kenapa la aku menjebakkan diri ku)
3. Forum (dah terbiasa sejak dari zaman belajar)
4. Membeli belah (entah la)
5. Otak suka menerawang pada perkara-perkara lain

Bukan salah FB, bukan salah Forum, bukan salah rumahtangga, bukan salah nafsu membeli belah, bukan salah otak..tapi salah sendiri...jika kita hendak fokus pada matlamat, kita tidak bolah menjadi multitask, elakkan gangguan entiti asing dan perlu bersedia siapkan perkara dalam sesi yang kita peruntukkan..aku perasan, aku dah terbiasa sangat dengan multitask..tengah buat satu kerja, tiba-tiba nak setelkan kerja lain..hmmm

Aku rasa aku perlu membuat anjakan paradigma...lepas anjakan ini, mampukah aku fokus?...

Dari semalam rasa ada pelik bila post comment on Yatt's blog..rasa mcm dah betul nickname tu..pagi ni baru perasan, itu nick yg satu lagi..non active account...kalau aku komen guna nama syahirah tu mmg aku la ye...

Bila lama tak membuat rutin, otak akan ada sikit berkarat..terbukti dah...sama mcm membaca paper, bila dah lama tak membaca, ada karat terkumpul yang menyebabkan susah nak faham paper tu...like i'm facing right now...cuma mujur lah dah ada sikit perbincangan, back to track..

Ada org tanya mcm mana belajar?..aku jawab tiada apa2 lagi...si penanya bertanya lagi, aik takde masalah ke?...belum leee...tungguuuuuu...

Baru start ni..vroom..vrooom...nak buang dulu karat2 yang terkumpul..mujur lah belum tepu..

Lamanya aku tak berada di alam maya...hidup penuh huru hara.ke hulu ke hilir..rasa nak patah semua tulang empat kerat ni...

Akhirnya semalam (9/7/2009) aku berjaya reportkan diri ke CAIRO...sampai dari kuantan dengan membawa barang perpindahan ke CAIRO dlm pukul 12pm..hajat singgah nak pinjam trolley je..sekali Prof Ruby panggil..terus ada discussion dgn Prof dari mana ntah (org arab)...aku angguk2 je..apa yg dibincang pun x tau..

Skrg aku nak kena service otakku...

Pagi ni, 26/6/2009 mendapat berita di TV3 menyatakan King of Pop dunia, Michael Jackson meninggal dunia..dikhabarkan pada pagi Khamis (waktu di LA)...he passed away at 50..rasa sebak jugak..biasa kalau artis2 meninggal, aku tak kesah sgt..tp kali ni rasa mcm sedih sikit...maybe sebab dia ni byk lagu yang menusuk kalbu kot..org kata dia dah muslim, tapi takde formal proof..so couldn't believe the rumors...

Ok usai sudah kesah full of controversial by MJ, perjalanan baru dia di sana bermula..

Kesah aku menyelesaikan hal cuti belajar pun sudah selesai semalam (Khamis- 25/6/09)..penuh lelah..

Surat tawaran UMP, KPT dan perjanjian UMP, KPT aku dapat hari selasa (23/6/09) dari HR melalui Dekan..pagi2 lagi aku dah ambil semua dokumen...perjanjian UMP memerlukan 2 orang penjamin luar dari UMP...pukul 12.30pm aku balik rumah, amik sedikit keperluan terus ke KL sbb nak amik sign husband dan abang sebagai penjamin...sampai pukul 3.05pm (waktu ini tepat sbb mmg habit aku lihat waktu tepat2 bertolak dan tepat2 sampai)..dah dpt sign husband, ke rumah abang di hillpark..tidur sana...

Pagi esoknya (Rabu- 24/6/09) pukul 9.30am bertolak balik ke Kuantan..punya la bercelaru fikiran, boleh terlepas simpang ke Jalan Pahang dari Pantai Dalam tu...melilau sampai ke pudu..abih masa lama kat situ..so sampai ke Kuantan pukul 12.00pm..terus daratkan sign Ju as a saksi...isi2 perjanjian tu sampai lengkap...pukul 2.30pm ke Kuantan untuk matikan setem..ada 3 misi petang tu..satu medical checkup...singgah di Poliklinik Ar Razi...med checkup will only be completed tomorrow afternoon sebab darah perlu dihantar ke makmal utk proses...ok takpe la..misi ke dua ke LHDN..nak matikan setem..sampai sana pukul 4.00pm...kena beli setem dulu sbb mesin auto dah tutup pukul 3.30pm..dah setel situ...misi ke 3 ke CIMB untuk tanya status akaun..

Akaun CIMB dah ada 10 thn dulu..ntah ke mana dah hilang..diorg kata boleh buat baru, tp kena dtg esok..sbb sistem dah offline...ok lah, ambik form balik rumah nnt isi

Malamnya, setelkan perjanjian..check perjanjian dgn checklist yg diberi...alamak...tersalah isi la pulak..ada bhgn yg disuruh kosong aku dah isi...padan la aku mcm tak tau nak isi apa...tapi sebab dah terbiasa di ajar di UTM dulu (kekeke) 'selesaikan masalah anda sendiri' maka aku pun selesaikan sendiri yg mana aku tak tau tu..aku tiru perjanjian KPT untuk selesaikan yg aku tak tau nak isi tu...aku berdoa harap2 kesalahan aku tu just a minor mistake...

Esoknya pukul 8.30 ke CIMB Kuantan..tunggu bukak pukul 9.15am...PIC CIMB mintak form n IC...dia tgk IC aku dia kata ni rosak ni...sbb ada sikit alamat tak clear..pahtu mmg la cip pun rosak...aku tanya abih tu mcm mana...dia dgn penuh tegas tanpa kompromi suruh aku pergi buat IC dulu...hahahha..haruuuu...ahh malas lah layan...

Aku ke CIMB cawangan Beserah...kat sana diorg ckp cip takleh baca...and i admitted that..aku harap sgt dia tak suruh aku pergi buat IC..luckily, dia suruh balik ambil surat beranak...masa tu dah pukul 10.00am lebih...ye lah2..balik opis la amik...balik opis sebelum ke CIMB semula, aku setelkan surat serah tugas, hantar buku ke library, amik cop di ICT (sbb laptop dah lama hantar)...dah setel terus ke CIMB...kat sana lama la plak...sbbnya diorg mcm tak tau nak solve mcm mana kes aku yg dah ada akaun ni...tp at last accomplished...balik semula ke opis, on the way singgah di Poliklinik ambil med checkup..balik opis buat recheck once again...dlm pukul 3 igt nak pegi ke HR dah..sekali ada plak student baru nak tanya pasal Program Grafik...aku mmg excited sokmo jumpa student baru..tercakap lama la plak..pukul 4 baru ke HR...alhamdullillah the mistake before was a minor mistake..so not big deal...at last end up at 4.30pm...i decided to go home (trg) to take a rest before go to jb to be a student...my energy level extremely downed to almost 0 yesterday...

So usai sudah proses cuti belajar...my journey to belajar (not cuti ye) will begin soon...

I got a phone call yesterday from Unit Cuti Belajar...yeaahhaaaa...finally i got the letter from KPT..meaning that my study leave application has been approved...next step, i need to fill in a few compulsory documents.....next week i'm gonna complete all of it since i'm still on leave right now...sungguh tak sabar...this is the moment that i waited since january 2009 until now...my first aim for 2009 just around the corner to be completed and the journey will begin...Ahamdullillah..

Since i'm going to be a full time student soon, and this is also an aim to almost of my friends...so i would like to share a little bit of tips which is i gained during SLAB course (attended at UKM- very informative)...so what we need to do in order to further study are:

1. Approach appropriate supervisors....
2. Get the offer letter/ sv letter (make sure to have back up plan, in case our first application is rejected..so we could proceed with second application and our aim still on the right route)
3. Sit for IELTS...make sure our aim is to get save band level...means at least 6.5, no matter where we'll be approved to study either abroad (Asia or others) or local, we still could use that IELTS..so selamat duit...IELTS sekarang dah RM550..mahal tu...i did my aimed was to get band 7, because i think i wont drop a lot if my aim higher than 6.5, and it's true..actually IELTS is just a strategy, from practicing until answering the exam...
4. In the proposal - try to put your supervisor paper as your reference...this is to show that your supervisor is the right person to supervise you on the chosen topic/field. Attach your supervisor's cv if needed...the cv should show the strength of the supervisor..(this is working too)
   
5. The rest, tawakkal...what ever the result is from Allah (of course thru top management)

Why i'm too eager to further study?...one of the reason because this is my aim for 2009...besides, i don't want to do management tasks anymore...kekeke..this is true from my heart...this position is really burdened me enough...i don't say that i hate the task...i did my best all this while...but i think there are other members that suit for the position...and maybe he/she is very talented but haven't get the opportunity...i think this is the best moment for me to further study since my major task in the position has been completed...lets other talented members to do the rest, surely you need to do a lot of improvements...good luck my friends..

Huh...from now on, i have to set up my mind..tune my mind from servant to student...

Ya Allah jauhkan diriku dari sikap dan sifat MALAS dalam segala hal, semoga aku bersedia hadapi cabaran dan dugaan mendatang...amin

Setiap hari sejak aku hantar permohonan cuti belajar, aku selalu berdoa "Ya Allah berikanlah yang terbaik untuk keluarga aku"...dlm hati aku, redho dgn apa jua keputusan

Hari ni, pg2 lagi masuk kerja terus telefon Haryani...tanya apa keputusan permohonan...dimaklumkan tak dapat buat di luar negara sebab duit habis....duit ump la tu yang habis, kalau gi sorg ok lagi sbb KPT yg tanggung, kalau family ump tanggung, tu yg takde duit kot...perasaan aku time tu rasa lega...tak pernah aku rasa setenang ni bila terima apa2 keputusan...sebabnya rasa tak perlu menyusahkan hati peyo lagi...agaknya ni lah yang terbaik untuk kami sekeluarga...

Dekan suruh buat rayuan...tapi aku ada backup plan...dekan pun dah setuju...aku still akan buat rayuan, tapi takut juga prosesnya lambat, better at the same time aku proceed with the backup plan...aku aim thn ni wajib sambung belajar...

Keluar bekerja pada hari Isnin yang indah ini dengan Bismillah dan dengan azam untuk menggali perkara yang akan dikaji untuk Phd nanti...sampai di pejabat dengan harapan ada tazkirah, boleh la aku mendengar apa2 pengisian rohani atau pun apa2 pengumuman penting...tapi sesi tazkirah hari ini batal...tak pe la..

Masuk bilik, buka laptop...tup2 dihidangkan dengan beberapa berita suka dan duka...lumrah hidup...dimulakan dengan berita duka baru suka..(sbb org kata dalam suka ada duka, better kita dgr duka dulu baru suka..harap2 tiada lagi duka lepas tu)

Berita duka: Rumah kawan aku di JB merangkap juga rumah pensyarah aku (baru jumpa minggu lepas) telah dirampok malam tadi, kat rumah hanya ada adik-adiknya sahaja....duit 6K dan kereta kancil merah (yang selalu kami tumpang) juga dilarikan....alhamdullillah adik-adiknya tak diapa2kan...yg tak bestnya, polis suruh dtg ke balai dulu buat report...alahai abg2 polis, apa la salahnya lebih agresif buat tindakan...dtg ke rumah ambil cap jari ke, buat siasatan kat rumah ke...mcm CSI tu....hmmm..maklum la pensyarah aku tu bukan ahli exco umno...

Berita suka: Banyak berita suka aku dpt hari ini....ada melibatkan fakulti aku dan ada pasal pensyarah kesayangan aku...
1. Dr Adzhar Kamaluddin telah berjaya perolehi Phd (minggu lepas dah tahu ni)
2. Nor Azhar telah berjaya perolehi master (dengan senyum2 tadi dia maklumkan pada aku...dia kata, betul la Pn Yanti (kenapa la dia panggi aku Puan lagi....) mmg miracle..sbb dia risau sgt last 2 weeks, so aku just menenangkan dia...aku kata insyaAllah ada keajaibannya...sbb dah berusaha sedaya upaya tu...alhamdullillah
3. Dua orang doctorate kami telah mendapat DS52
4. Dekan kami Dr Jasni telah menjadi PM Dr Jasni.....tahniah semua...
5. Last but not least, PM Dr Siti Mariyam (heroin aku selepas mak aku) telah berjaya menjadi Profesor Dr Siti Maryam (beberapa bulan yang lepas)...last week jumpa dia...sempat lagi usik2 Prof ni...hehehhehe....terima kasih Prof Dr Siti (janggal rasa sbb dah biasa panggil Dr Siti je) atas galakan selama ini...u are my inspiration...

teruja aku nak pergi sambung belajar ni bila tgk pada byknya berita2 gembira tu....maklumla aku mmg teruja sgt dengan berita seperti dah selamat viva dsb...

last week juga aku telah berbincang dengan sensei dari KIT yang datang ke UTM Jb, bila dah diskus tu rasa clear sikit otak aku yang byk dengan persoalan selama ni....cuma sekarang aku menunggu mesyuarat cuti belajar diadakan...tarikh asal 11/5 tunda ke 15/5, tak sempat dibincangkan permohonan cuti belajar, so tunda lagi pada 21/5..aduh..penantian suatu penyeksaan...Ya Allah permudahkan lah jalannya....

Hari ini (30/4/2009) aku dah bentang proposal Phd untuk dapatkan kelulusan fakulti. Alhamdullilah dah selesai dan sudah diluluskan. Proses seterusnya:

1. Fakulti hantar ke bahagian cuti belajar
2. Dapatkan sokongan dari TNC(A)
3. Dapatkan sokongan NC
4. Mohon kelulusan KPT
5. Pergi BTN (boleh x kalau aku nak gi awal?...)
6. Uruskan visa etc.
7. Ogos: ke Iizuka, Japan...
8. Daftar di Kyushu Institute of Tech (Kyutech)

Sekarang dah nak masuk bulan 5...bulan 7 kena setel semua...sempat ke?

I'm reading paper about biometrics, this is for my Phd proposal..my intention is to get idea for Multimodal Biometrics..my husband said i can focus on fusion method..so as a first step, i need to get general knowledge on what are the existing Biometric systems...this is actually for identification since world is not save anymore..everything need to be authenticated securely...human features can be used as an authentication source to make sure only authenticated person can access any personal info or others...

Normally we hear about fingerprint recognition (matured enough), face recognition, iris recognition etc...but amazingly i found that there are a few researches in Ear Recognition...off course features of the ear are not accepted as an unique characteristic, but there are salient points on the ear that might different in every person...hmmmm...boleh plak ye...this research still ongoing and yet no commercial system available in market..this salient point is on the pinna from the landmark location..hmmm menarik..where is the pinna?..i don't know...research..research..pic below shows where is the pinna..tapi, org bertudung tak blh la nak recognize telinga..unless pakai tudung mcm Tok Ti..kekeke
